I’m an audio producer, broadcast journalist and reporter based in my home city of Glasgow.
I’ve worked with BBC News, Radio 4, Radio 3, Radio Scotland and leading independent production companies as a radio producer, broadcast journalist and podcast presenter.
As a freelance journalist I have written about food and drink, environmental issues, land reform and the arts for the likes of The Guardian, Vittles, Noble Rot, National Geographic, The Sunday Times, Wicked Leeks, The Fence and Pellicle.
More recently, I was one of the founders of the Glasgow Bell, helping to set up a new online newspaper in my home city, as part of Mill Media’s growing stable of titles across the UK.

Audio producer
I have wide-ranging experience producing audio documentaries, podcasts and radio programmes for national radio.
I have made two episodes of Archive on 4, the first explored how Glasgow became the UK’s archetypal Motorway City. The second skewered and analysed the Braveheart Effect for the 30th anniversary of the film.
I’ve produced many episodes of the Food Programme on BBC R4: the transformation of Buckfast; The Wild West of Whisky; viral viennoiserie, the future of food writing; smoke, fire and flame; climate change and winemaking; celebrity-branded drinks; Scotland’s Good Food Nation bill; the art of paying closer attention to our food and more.
The Food Programme episode I am most proud of is ‘Glasgow: Seeking Asylum and Finding Refuge in Food’, for which I won best radio programme at the Scottish Refugee Council media awards.
I have also produced R4’s Pick of the Week and The Reunion. I also made a series of BBC R3’s The Essay called Vivaldi in a Warming World.

Broadcast journalist
I’ve reported stories for The Food Programme and Feedback on BBC Radio 4. Topics include the murky world of whisky cask investment, traditional smoking methods in food and drink, hype bakeries and Glasgow’s refugees and asylum seekers.
I’ve reported on topics such as food & drink, foraging and homelessness live on BBC Radio Scotland, and reported packages for programmes including Good Morning Scotland, Out of Doors and Sunday Morning. You can watch a clip from my TV report for BBC News on Magnet Fishing here.
I also produced/presented two series of the podcast A Future Made, and have hosted the Greater Govanhill radio show.

I have bylines in The Guardian, National Geographic, Vittles, Noble Rot, The List’s Eating & Drinking Guide, The Sunday Times, Pellicle, The Fence, Greater Govanhill, Wicked Leeks, Cask & Still, Glug, The Daily Record, and many more.
Most recently, I helped set up the Glasgow Bell, where I work as a staff writer.
I also have a specialism in food and drink writing. I worked as a restaurant reviewer for the List’s Eating & Drinking Guide for five years, and have written about the politics of food and drink for national newspapers, as well as leading independent publications and magazines.
I reviewed Edinburgh Fringe shows for the Sunday Times and The Skinny, and have worked at newspapers as a journalist and subeditor.
